What is your opinion?
A few individuals are of the opinion that greater expenditure ought to be done on conserving species that are on the verge of extinction. A few others, on the other hand, state that this activity will not be a judicious use of our financial resources. According to this essay, both standpoints have convincing foundations.
To begin with, those who support the protection of endangered species have a basis of emotions. That is to say, such men and women feel sympathetic toward the plight of the living species that are going to die out soon. As per such humans, these animals ought to be helped because death must be painful to them, too. To illustrate, many people take care of their pets as diligently as they take care of their children or family members. Such an example proves that humans can care about animals as much as they look out for other human beings.
Nonetheless, the latter viewpoint has a foundation of practicality. To be precise, today, humans themselves are struggling with so many issues that require more financial inputs. For instance, poverty and malnutrition can be eliminated only if greater financial support is provided by the governments. Hence, using the available funds to save the dying species in place of eradicating the current human predicaments does seem illogical.
In conclusion, saving the species that could die off soon by devoting more finances to this cause looks ethical from an emotional perspective. Nevertheless, since humans are themselves facing so many problems that require more of the available financial resources, the previous course of action appears to be a misplaced priority.
