Some people prefer international products to local ones.
What are some advantages and disadvantages of this?

A few individuals opt for global brands in place of regional labels.

One merit of this is that they get superior commodities. That is to say, global brands are far superior to national or regional produce. Hence, if a consumer buys a good of the former category, his money is valued to a larger extent. For example, whereas many times my international-brand T-shirts have lasted five to six years, my local clothing becomes useless in a month.

Another benefit is the push given to globalization. In other words, when sales of a particular worldwide company increase, it gets the required impetus to expand its scale. For instance, encouraged by humungous appreciation in India, an American cellphone company is launching in Nepal next month.

Nevertheless, a major drawback can be loss of livelihood for regional traders and firms. If their goods do not sell, they will have to shut down their ventures. A case in point is Kalka Clothes. Its owner had to close shop owing to the overweening influence of Western brands in his city.

Similarly, some traditional items may vanish. To be precise, international corporations mostly distribute global merchandise. As a consequence, indigenous commodities may completely get out of circulation. Eventually, they may lose their existence. To illustrate, production of a traditional cap of Kolkata had been ceased, a cessation that resulted from its zero commercial value.

In conclusion, choosing global brands over regional tags gets you more durable goods and fosters globalization. Even so, this preference can cause regional businesses and commodities to extinct.
